Reflecting on his football journey, Matt Orr says, \u201cI started playing football when I was four years old, very young. My father was a professional footballer in New Zealand, and he was passionate about the sport even before I moved to Hong Kong. When I was born, I began playing football mainly influenced by him\u2014that was the starting point of my journey.\u201d Regarding his study abroad experience in the United States, Matt explains, \u201cI attended a sports academy\u2014IMG Academy, which is a very well-known athlete training system around the world. Their sports program is designed to help you balance academics and athletics. Every morning, I would go to the gym for training sessions, then attend school in the afternoon. This kind of schedule kept my days busy and taught me a lot about balance, discipline, and stability. These experiences helped me unlock my potential during university and successfully step into a professional football career.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Having previously played for Kitchee Sports Club and launched his professional career, Matt Orr is now a member of Shanghai Port Football Club. Reflecting on a milestone, he shares, \u201cIn July, I scored my first goal for the club since joining. It was a special moment for me.\u201d Talking about the challenges in his career, he candidly states, \u201cAs an athlete, I\u2019ve experienced many tough moments. You have to maintain a balance\u2014not too low, not too high. When facing challenges, you learn how to handle more pressure and become even more committed.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAs long as you put your heart into it, plan for yourself, and work tirelessly, there\u2019s nothing you cannot achieve.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Play Longer, Stronger, and Better<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The transition from defender to striker is no easy feat. Matt explained: \u201cI think the shift from defensive to offensive mindset is very difficult, because it\u2019s a completely new role. I grew up playing as a defender for many years now, so in some ways this change feels natural. Of course, at the beginning it was tough because I hadn\u2019t practiced attacking on the front line for a long time, and competition for the striker position is always fierce. You need to learn through playing games and adjusting quickly, but that\u2019s never easy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Matt has his own perspective on wealth: \u201cI believe that being wealthy is not just about money. Money can give you the freedom to live as you wish, but true happiness comes from doing what you love every day and living your dreams. Being able to pursue your passions and continuously improve\u2014 that is the most precious thing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Refinding Endurance and Potential<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also added that family, friendship, and companionship are the sources of his happiness. Regarding personal planning, Matt states, \u201cIn my free time, I participate in some football-related business activities, explore different industries, and meet new friends. Football is my passion, but I\u2019m also willing to try new things and embrace new challenges. Life is a continuous process of learning and growth. As long as I stay passionate, I believe a brighter future is within reach.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout his football career, Matt understands the importance of facing life\u2019s highs and lows. He shares, \u201cI once lost a match, but it remains vivid in my memory because of the incredible atmosphere\u2014the fans\u2019 cheers, their voices, colors, and energy were truly special. Participating in that game was an honor; whenever I think of it, I feel proud.\u201d Matt firmly believes that with dreams, anything is possible. He concludes, \u201cYoung people should be brave enough to break through their limitations and continuously pursue higher goals. As long as you put your heart into it, plan for yourself, and work tirelessly, there\u2019s nothing you cannot achieve.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
