It\u2019s been a roller coaster of a year for Dario Vitale. Twelve months ago, in September 2025, Vitale presented his first collection as the newly minted chief creative officer of Versace. Less than three months later, despite the collection\u2019s enthusiastic reception (\u201cAm I a Versace Guy Now?<\/a>\u201d posed Samuel Hine in his laudatory review for\u00a0GQ<\/em>),\u00a0he was out<\/a>. Today, Armani announced Vitale\u2019s new role leading menswear and womenswear at Emporio Armani, and designing accessories for Emporio and Giorgio Armani.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Creative directors at the world\u2019s most famous fashion houses come and go with the frequency of White House staff these days, but the decision to hire Vitale isn\u2019t just the latest move in\u00a0the fashion industry\u2019s ongoing game of musical chairs.<\/a>\u00a0Following founder\u00a0Giorgio Armani\u2019s death<\/a>\u00a0at age 91 last year, Vitale is now the first person outside the designer\u2019s immediate family to hold a creative director role at the company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
